sugar rush

So uhm my life is in a mess at the moment. And I need to study for my exams. But I want to do creative stuff. I am such a loner at the moment. My social life is a disaster. And I just feel like hiding in the library, but  my school doesn't have one and everybody gives you the looks when you are just reading or writing during breaks. And I just feel so angsty. I want to explore my neighbourhood and make long bike rides but maths and fysics exam preparations are killing me. Everything sux. The only good thing is that during the exams I can go home early so I am not stuck in school all day, because that would be worse.
Can't wait till Christmas holiday. And do stuff that I like to do and go to Ghent with some friends.
All the things I did this summer but then with snow and hot coffee. And the fact that I am reading On The Road right now doesn't help. Just driving and do what you want and be happy. ugh. Wathever. Heavy intro.
From this summer with Bo. Pretty light.

bitchface at school and Martin Margiela voor H&M glitter disco panties.
my old treehouse and Almdudler (addicted).
Marie-Antoinette/creepy little child shrine in my old room.
So I am also busy with rebuilding all my little shrines in my cupboard and organizing everything.
But right now my room is a drama. You even can't see the floor anymore. School notes, binders
(MITT BE JEALOUS!), tea cups. Lately I've been inspired by really bright colors.
Goodbye to the faded out pastels and dust attic summer vibes.
Ah visual color delight! Everything is from my tumblr.
Except the first collage glam rock cereals is by
Taylor-Ruth and the other picture is from Commes Des Garçons, the third collage the second picture is Lisa Simspon (duh) and in the last collage the last picture is by Grace Miceli.
If you know any other sources feel free to let me know!

That is it for now!

life can be kinda mean when you are thirteen

So hello -why is starting a post always so awkward-.
I have been so busy these last weeks. There is just so much schoolwork (and my exams are like two weeks away) and you know: my new room and other stuff. And last Friday night there was the 'Petit Riens Defilé'.
Petit Riens  is a chain of thrift stores that does a  lot of charity.  Every year they ask famous and upcoming Belgian designers to make new creations with the thrifted clothes and objects.
It was so beautiful and so much fun.

Delvaux pin bag!
Super heavy flash. I am wearing a gold tinsel crown and an Enid patch,  both gifts from Hollie, random pins and ring, thrifted jeans jacket,  the teen witch t-shirt made by Hollie, another gift. I  also wore a vintage mint dress, white granny lace up shoes from etsy and h&m (OMG OMG YES I KNOW I AM WEARING H&M WHAT HAPPENED) glitter panties.

So all these gifts from Hollie came in a big care package in the mail. A care package swap !
And we will do it again for Christmas. Hollie is such an awesome babe. Do take a look at her blog (click the link). I got tons of wonderful stuff! Internet is such an amazing thing.

I MEAN JUST LOOK. Love hearts! You can't get them in my place. I love them and they are so great for making crowns and other crafty stuff (again: Mara spoiler alert). The second picture is my fall season shrine in my new bedroom. Including Where the wild things are, Fleetwood Mac, Cat Power, Old National Geographics.

Ah my room. At the moment it is a total mess and I still need to do a lot of decoration. But I wanted to share this picture where I am trying to be just like the girls in Bye Bye Birdie, especially the ones in 'Telephone Hour'. I never saw the movie but I saw almost every Youtube  music clip about it and ugh please could someone just send me a copy of it.
(oh and if you want you can also send the witch sweater from Meadham Kirchhoff with it.)

Wearing a slip dress that I found in a joke shop (my village has the best joke shop ever, it has a little corner where they sell vintage theater clothing. I payed 7 euros for this beauty). My little sister found the phone on a fleamarket. I wish I could really use it to make calls.

Oh and also, the title is inspired by this awesome rookie theme song.

Sunday 14 October 2012

it is raining on prom night

Seriously now. School is killing me. After all those French grammar rules, my head is only fit for sipping coke watching Freaks & Geeks (yes best show ever. I feel so hipster right now and  the entire Tumblr is obsessed with it too but then again it is SO good) . But watevah. A few weeks ago I went to Antwerp for the Antwerp Fashion Night. It was so much fun, I met up with Alice, an awesome blogger babe and together we did some  shopping. OUTFIT TIMEZZZZZ.
Quirky sipping from my drink sex and the city style.
Green velvet headband from American Apparel. Scarf, shirt, jeans jacket and bag are thrifted. The skirt is something I own since age 10, I bought in a child boutique thingy. Shoes are vintage from Etsy. Thights are random. Ring is from a toy store. THAT JACKET IS MY LYFE. I was looking for a jeans jacket for so long, like girl gang 90's vibez. It is so perfect, I can throw it over every outfit and directly make it look better. I bought a bunch of patches on etsy and some pins on a flea market. For full girl gang vibez.
Last weekend I also went thrifting with Myrte and I bought this box for my barettes. Ofcourse I made a gif of it because I am such a hipster tumblr girl #omgz.

We also went to the movie theatre to see 'Little Black Spiders'. A Belgian movie about ten  pregnant teenagers forced to live in the attic of a hospital with their babies due for adoption. It is set in the 70's and is based on a real story. It is so beautifully set in scenes with all those little details like the Jesus paintings. I also really liked the forest scenes. I don't know if it will come out in other countries, but if you have the chance to see it you really should!

summer is dead.

The summer is dying. It's awfull. But all in all I had a wonderful summer. It felt like the only thing I did was eat cheesecake, listen to Fleetwood Mac and take pictures with my disposable camera. I can't wait to have them developed. It is over. Monday school starts again. I am going to the third year. TIME FLIES WHEN YOU ARE HAVING FUN! not. not. not. maths. fysics. grrmmdkvisdyhdhfjhsks.
This is my 'r.i.p summer' outfit.

D.I.Y crown. Thrifted jeans jacket (Finally I found one. I'm still busy changing it.), thrifted flower shirt (Kind of in a vintage shirt period), Rosary was a gift from a really sweet old lady. I am not religious but I have a huge obsession with religion since I was little (WEIRD GRRRL SPOILER) , I like the rituals and icons and al the colors and stuff. American Apparel skirt, white ruffle socks, a hand-me-down from my little sister, chunky heels from Zalando collection (sent to me by the brand). OMIGOD love them so much, I wear them all the time. When I sleep they stand on my bedside table next to my fake teeth (fake teeth is actually the word for dentures in dutch) and my glass of milk. They look really cool in the color scheme of the white teeth and the milk. SO ARTSY.

-I am really bad at this inspiration thing.-
1&5. stills from Die Antwoord - Baby's on fire clip. I am not such a fan of Die Antwoord but I loved the little details in the clip, 2. Kate Moss by Corinne Day, 3. Juergen Teller, 4. via retrospace.
So yes. Goodbye to summer. I am actually excited about the new school year. Everything is going to be different because I am going to a new grade. The first two years of high school I was really angsty -God, I still am- and stressed.
WATHEVAH. My new school year resolution  is to stop  giving a damn what people think and to drastically wear and say what I want.

Girls with guns (and diaries).

We spent the holidays in Croatia. It was wonderfull and I can't wait to have the pictures developed that I took with my single use camera. Croatia is "aestethically pleasing". The pastel houses, churches etc. But there was a weird vibe around because beneath the surface you could sense the  traces of the war. I photographed, wrote and drew a lot.
But now I am back in town. And  you know, we didn't have any internet  there so I was like in one big 'bubble'. And the bubble seriously burst once we got back. Like when I heard the news about Pussy Riot. And seriously THIS MAKES ME SO MAD.
I felt like fillling  this post with repetitions of 'POETIN IS A JERK' but that would  surely not have been my best idea. So I made a protest t-shirt. Nothing spectacular or something. It just took an old "Onslow T" from my dad and a felt marker- it's unwashable though and that's a bummer. My black fabric markers have run out too -. The T says 'FREE PUSSY RI♥T'. Not original, I admit, but with nothing to be desired in terms of clarity.
Myrte took this picture while we were  cruising and exploring our neighbourhood (like always). We hit aan abandoned house that was  for sale and the door wasn't locked so we crashed the place -BECAUSE WE ARE BAD GIRLS YA KNOW. The house was seriously run down but totally in sync with our aestethics. There was awesome wallpaper on the walls and what was left of the windows had lace curtains. We looked further and we had to jump from one metal floor beam to the other - the floor deck was gone- and then we made it to the bathroom. THE BATHROOM WAS A 70's HEAVEN. The bathroom tiles were white with a brown print but the bath, toilet and sink where green. Bounty of pictures ! And then Myrte opened the bathroom cabinet and there we found this gun -WHAT KIND OF NUTHEAD KEEPS HIS GUN IN THE BATHROOM?!-. That was really a mindblowing visual flashback to the  Mad Men episode in which Betty Draper shot the neighbour's pigeons in the garden. And who can resist a girl with a gun ? So far for the story behind the picture. This summer I also decided to take up a diary again. But more  like a collage book with text and trifles

Kaw Liga

Oh hello. I think I changed a lot since I started this bloguhh-thingy, from a personal perspective but also aesthetically, especially the last three months. Some books and films made a teenage life changing impression. Examples ? I read 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and 'Persepolis', we went twice to see Moonrise Kingdom and djee I LOVED IT ALL SO MUCH. There are no words ! I've actually been obsessed with it lately. The soundtrack on Spotify is constantly on the air in our house here (A BIG THANK YOU TO THE ANONYMOUS  PERSON WHO LOOKED UP ALL THE SONGS AND MADE THIS PUBLIC PLAYLIST. Forever truly yours). And I also got to see 'Romeo and Juliet' by  Baz Luhrmann (LEONARDO. OMG. OMGZ). And yeah I don't know. WATHEVAH. Last week my friend Perniele came and she took these pictures in my home town.

I know it's super narcissistic to post all these pictures. But this photoshoot thing was really spontaneous (A little bit too spontaneous because afterwards I regretted not having brought my record player on our little hike) and we went to all my secret favourite stakeouts (The wall with the sorrowful lover break-up apology tagged on it, the thrift store, the house with the porcelain bambi in the garden, etc.).
Blue vintage dress & glasses, both bought in Amsterdam early this summer.
White vintage belt.
White catholic schoolgirl socks are borrowed from Flo.
Platform heels are from  Zalando and are a courtesy of the brand
A little review.
Things I like: You can wear them with socks, they are high (Perfect for a munchkin like me) but very comfortable, they look (even) better in real than on the site.
Room for improvement: The leather gives off a little bit of its color.

Last two pictures:
D.I.Y fake daisy crown.
Black cat eye glasses, originally Flo's but I traded them for my old blazer
Vintage shirt with car print also bought in Amsterdam.
Red skirt is vintage.
Thrifted bag
Shoes are from Urban Outfitters.

Perniele and I also made some polaroids in a little creepy chapel with a  large shrine including virgin statues and plastic flowers (A.K.A most photogenic place in the world).
I really wanted to share this old picture of my mum's teenage bedroom because I have an obsession with teenage bedrooms (When teenagers are not at home, I appear from under their beds -I live there-and I spy  their rooms. SO TIDY UP YOUR ROOMS AND MAYBE THE PICTURE OF YOUR SPACE WILL END IN MY BIG 'TEENAGE BEDROOMS' PHOTOALBUM!)

That was it.

Cheerleading

Actually I am really carefull with posts about events and PR stuff. I think a blog is a blog and not a marketing device. I am anxious about the independence to write, do or say what I want. Because that is one of the reasons why I started this blog. That is why I am very picky about invitations for events or accepting free clothes or other things. But for The Big You 2 I really don't mind the conventional exception. The Big You is a bloggers event in Antwerp hosted by Unlimited PR. So many great people work there . Nice people like Elisabeth from a polaroid story.
The brands, the food and the people. LUF LUF LUF -to much summer heat isn't good for people's mentality-. So I went with Myrte (you also saw her here. AH THE GOOD OLD DAYS!) and we had a wonderfull day.

Swarovski. Honestly, I do not like Swarovski. I am just not that kind of girl that could spend money on stones (Ok. Glitter stones). I wear plastic vintage junk jewellery. But I think this collection absolutely has potential. EVERYBODY LIKES OLD HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR! All the pictures  by me except the polaroids. Polaroid of Myrte and I wearing Swarovski jewels taken by the PR lady (LOOK HOW COOL WE ARE ON THE PICTURE. WITH GUNS AND STUFF.)

Camper had vintage travel decoration. And they held a contest wich I totally endorsed (you can win a night at the Camper casa in Berlin or Barcelona. BERLIN I WANT TO MEET YOU!). On a big European map you had to pin a polaroid of you and your favorite shoes on your favorite place. And that's London of course. Maybe it is cliché but I have such good memories of London (Sentimental.). My first Fashion Week was the one in London (read Veerle Windels and mine report for 'De Standaard' here -in Dutch-). IT WAS GREAT. It is really hard to explain how it feels to be a part of fashion week for the first time. Everthing is dazzling, it is just like in the movies. So for LFW I was three days in London. And you know London  alwayshas good vibes. It is weird but for me it feels like home. I bet I'll end up studying there and I am already saving the money for it too. I'd love to call it home. (LOOK ME BEING COOL ON THE PICTURE. WINKING AND STUFF.)

Then we went to the Veritas spot. Where we learned to crochet again. CROCHET FOR LIFEZZZ.
On the first picture you can see Myrte crocheting in her awesome pink 'FAR OUT' 80's top. At the Veritas stand we also got a white tote bag with the request to 'PIMP THEM UP!' I used fabric marker and made this self portrait. Every time I go out with this bag people give me the looks, especially when they see the sentence. OMYGOD I LOVE THAT!
This is what I wore. But with shoes of course. My white shortened wedding dress and girl scout patches from troopmoore on eBay.

The only thing I want to do is to walk the goats.

It is over. School is over. The past days I spent swimming in the pool of a friend (I've got cool friendz, with cool stuff. Duh), dancing on tacky 90's music (Backstreet boys. Anyone?) and drinking soy milk -I guess there must be a food porn reference in every single post. IT IS MY TRADEMARK. I am a pro at personal branding! (My god  how I hate the term 'personal branding')-. In below, behold the outfit that I wear when I walk my friend's Silke's goats (Friends with cool stuff. I already said it).
Transparant flower hair clip and bracelets from when I was little. Topshop blouse. Vintage plastic fake watch necklace. Thrifted shoes and skirt. This skirt gives me so much 70's summer pyschedelic vibes.

Ibe.
PS: Coming up soon:  a big post  on The Big You.

Crème fraîche + Kate Bush = Summer.

These last weeks I have been  entirely into the psychedelic dress wear. In addition yours truly developed a taste for midget (aka 'Munchkin') paprika (yes, that exists ! And our little village's supermarket carries midget cucumbers, midget apples, midget carrots... all extremely neat groceries ) as well as the  taste for songs by the Vaselines. And here is the moodboard that goes with eh.. well the mood.
And it's also about some summer spring junk. I THINK I HAVE AN OBSESSION OR SOMETHING.
Boring summers, witches, teen angst, forest. The background is a page from a book on naive art called 'Art Brut'. It is so neat. My dad introduced it to me.. Note the glitter hair clip from when I was little. Iconography bracelet from the joke shop. A crystal you hardly can see. The Virgin Maria statue from a little catholtic shop in the Afro neighbourhood of Paris (the streets behind the Sacre Coeur cathedral, the best shop ever #omgz). An old note book from my mum when she was my age. Fake blue hair. Kate Bush single from my mum. THANK YOU MUM AND DAD FOR ALL THOSE COOL THINGS YOU HAD WHEN YOU WERE MY AGE.
GREASE (duh), prom, homecoming queens, surburbs, hanging around on a playground.
The background is a thrifted skirt. Toy creme fraiche can. Old Barbie hat from when I was little. Black nail polish. Glitter crown sticker. Lolly. Old Barbie dress. Rosary necklace was a gift. Glasses are from American Apparel. The poodle badge is a D.I.Y I did in art classes. The bracelet is also something I got when I was little and I pasted some old Maria pray stuff on it. Grease 2 single from my mum.

On murdering dolls and having birthday apple strudel

Two years. Today your blog is the birthday girl.  Birthday girl as it has been decided that my blog is femine. And I am feeling pretty proud though I can't say why. I guess it's because blogging can be really heavy. Keeping up the posts. Not neglecting the blog. IT IS HARD OK. Condoleances. No. Ok.  But it has been two years of expressing weird and vague feelings, and a lot of it  narcistic  too.  After all it's still a lot of talk about oneself and overdoing the caps. On the other hand the blog gave me an opportunity to be a part of so many wonderfull projects. SENTIMENTALITY. I said it before: a granny in a thirteen year old body.
My uncombed little sister Lotta in a state of concentration in front of the birthday Apple strudle.
Birthday crown. Inspired by the Hole song 'Doll Parts'.
I showed it to my sisters. Reaction:
Little Sister One: 'IBE YOU MURDERED THOSE DOLLS!'
Little Sister Two: 'That's art!'
Me: 'Erm. Thank you.'
Handmade crown.
White long sheer dressing gown is thrifted.
Butteryellow slip dress is also thrifted.
Black and white vintage Fratelli Rosseti shoes.
Candy bracelet -you can't see it on the picture-.
